In an effort to reduce congestion and enhance the safety at the entrance of Tamarin, construction work for an upgraded road network took off last week.
The infrastructure work contract has been awarded to Transinvest Construction Ltd [TCL] a subsidiary of Colas group a global player in the world’s construction market who has been working locally for more than 70 years.
The existing main road will be diverted at the roundabout near La Place Cap Tamarin and will be redirected towards the bridge. Works are expected to reduce congestion and enhance safety without impacting the commuting distance.
In addition to this new road network, infrastructure work to set up the rainwater treatment plant, optical fibre network, undergrounding, water supply system, footpaths, cycling paths and green spaces will also be undertaken.
The total cost of the construction contract awarded to Transinvest Construction Ltd is estimated at more than Rs 300 million and works will be completed by September 2019.
