[Cap sur Tamarin] École Paul et Virginie continues to grow

28 April 2021

École Paul et Virginie is a French curriculum school for children from preschool to the last year of primary education (CM2). This not-for-profit corporation is a member of the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE) and is well-known for its high-quality education in the region. Its colourful Creole-style roofs and large trees have been part of the Tamarin landscape since 2003!

The school has been developed in phases to respond to a growing population in the Tamarin region. The ultimate aim is to have four classes per level from grades 1 (CP) through 5(CM) to contribute to delivering child-friendly, quality education in a verdant setting.

The Management Committee has approved the third and final construction phase in November 2019. This new building will house cycle 3 classes, allowing the school to accommodate up to 600 pupils!

“COVID-19 has clearly had a major impact on the region and its inhabitants, but École Paul et Virginie School has made all the necessary distance learning arrangements to continue providing quality education and assist pupils through this challenging period. Our team remains fully committed and we look forward to being together again in our classrooms as soon as the health situation permits,” says the School Director, Sandra Rabier. “Our motto is inspired by Nelson Mandela’s quote that education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. We are educating multilingual and environmentally responsible global citizens of tomorrow with a critical mind. The management remains confident in this beautiful school’s continued existence.”
